It looks like India is finally set to stop production of the famous Hindustan Ambassador.
The Hindustan Ambassador has set records for one of the cars in production for the longest amount of time. It is still a familiar site on the streets of India - having being originally modelled on the very austere, and very imperial Morris Oxford. 56 years in production is an amazing feat, and although these cars will probably be on the road and bodged together for many years to come, the decision to end production has not necessarily been well received - people's emotional connection to this car and its associated connotations of freedom and wealth can't be overstated. Of course, things change, but there's no doubt this car will live long in the memory.
